Aug. 17, 2011 - Nauvoo Tour - Downtown

As we left the the buggy ride, we headed back to our motel for lunch.  We passed this sign.

Huh?

We turned back to look at the outdoor theater where the Nauvoo Pageant is performed every summer.

The Catholic church near the temple is an attractive old addition to the city.

Linda had me take this shot of the temple with the tree in the foreground.

Here's a better look at the Catholic's location.  They've been in Nauvoo for over 150 years.

As we passed from the Old Nauvoo to the "new" Nauvoo on the hill above the temple, we saw some interesting buildings.  This old barn caught our eye.

Someone had this wagon displaying baskets for their lawn decor.

There was this stone woodworking shop.

We passed the motel where we stayed the night and kept going to see what was beyond it.

There's a new motel called "The Manor House."

Perhaps the most interesting place to find a night's stay was among this row of cabins.

Yep, this sign confirmed the cabins were there for rent.

When we returned to town I spotted this interesting walk down a narrow alley.

While I found things to photograph, Linda made her way to the stores.

We both love books so, after we ate, our final destination was this LDS book store.  The proprietor was from North Carolina originally.  She said she's been in Nauvoo for 40 years.
