We got our first snow and ice for this year. I hope it's our last.

When
snow falls this far south (pretty rare, but getting less rare lately)
it often melts as it's falling then refreezes in the form of ice.

The
ice piles up on limbs, breaking them from the weight. Limbs then
fall on power lines often knocking power out for many homes.

Fortunately, this was mostly sleet mixed with snow and didn't accumulate.

Our friends in cooler climates would call this a "dusting."

But we're not used to seeing icicles here.
