August 8, 2010 - Our first Sunday in Provo

We had a great Sunday at church today in Provo.  We attended church with the friends we're staying with.  Andi's husband is bishop.  I asked her to pose with her youngest son.  Good lookin' young man, isn't he?  He's one of the sweetest kids you'll ever meet.

We were invited to dinner in honor of her daughter's last family get together before she leaves for college tomorrow.  Dinner was hosted by her grandmother.  I asked Linda to pose with the college girl.

Linda took a photo of me and grandfather, Walter.  The sword belongs to the young man in the first photo.

We were greated by a dinner of delicious roast beef with potatoes and carrots and several loaves of fresh baked bread.

We were also greeted by the family dog, "Rorschach."  He was named after the man who invented the ink blot test for obvious reasons.  Hahaha!

After dinner we played an old parlor game called "Humm..ble."  You draw a card and hum the tune named on the card.  If your opponent guesses it, he or she gets to roll dice to find out how far to move on the board.

We had some fun times guessing "Name that tune."

There was lots more to the events of the day but they were all fun.  Since this is Mormon country, near everyone in the community belongs to my church.  There are at least 6 LDS churches in this neighborhood within perhaps a 1/4 mile area.

I also got to spend some time with my daughter, Karen, who is planning on moving out here.  That's Ruth in the pink blouse.  She's the grandmother who planned all this.  When Karen was attending college at BYU here she spent so much time in this home she began calling Ruth "Mom."
