2010-04-29 Installing insulation, building a work bench, and
moving day
On this page of the storage
building saga I had to admit there were some things I could no longer
do
myself.
I had to call NRG Savers to finish the insulation.
After working like crazy for a whole day and suffering for it for the
next 2 days I realized my body wouldn't take it having to install all
that overhead insulation. I figured it wouldn't do to have
someone just install that part of it so I had them do it all.
First, this guy was a professional. He fixed what I botched then
began installing the rest of the insulation, first in the walls then in
the ceiling.
I put R-13 in the walls and R-19 in the ceiling. That's not the
best there is but it's sufficient for storage buildings.
What made me feel really bad is this guy did more in one morning than I
could have done in a week.
With the insulation up, I was able to buy some lumber and build me a
work bench -- finally!!
I've been without a usable work bench for the past 3 years. More
than that, this is the first, well built and stable work bench I've
ever had.
I moved a lot of the stuff to the work bench or under it to get it off
the floor then I swept the floor.
That made things ready to begin moving storage containers from our
rental to our new storage building.
For now, I have no plans for wall covering for the inside of the
building. I'll leave things this way a while.
The double doors make it nice loading and unloading.
With them open I could almost park a car inside.
And the lean-to has really come in handy for lawn and garden equipment.
That's it for this page. Now you can take a look at how I've been
using the new building.
